The sun finally rose, and Jon had already packed what he needed, including his weapon. He went out of his apartment, taking a last glimpse of it before closing the door and locking it. The way to the shipping docks wasn't far. Jon took a deep breath before continuing away from his home and towards the docks.
Jon arrives in the check, he shows his papers and then states his name. "Midster, Jon. Ready for duty!" "Yes, I can see that here." The man behind the desk said with an insulting tone. He went through the paper and put on the company's stamp. "Welcome on board, Jon." He finally said. "Thank you sir." Jon quickly replied smiling at the man. He nodded his head and went towards the ship. He finally came inside, on deck 34.

"I'm regret to say, but you have no right to take self's parts. And no, you'll not take it from self/mind."
*JO focuses his energies. An portion of his mind drifts to the bridge of the frigate. There he locates a small trinket on a table*
*The trinet floats eeirely over the air as JO uses his telekinesis to move it, the whole crew is watching the thing. A humming sound, louder than the rail cannon is heard, suddenly the object (A durasteel orbt) is tore apart into dust. The dust falls in the ground as JO releases his grip*
"As a proof of my goodwill, I'm allowing you to turn off your hyperspace inhibitors without opening fire, unless you would like to face self."
A beep in the Dreamsower's bridge indicates the ion cannon is charged at 10%...

"Whatever that silly trick was it doesn't impress me," says Manwell, raising his voice over the loud humming of the rail cannon. He is masking his shock as best he can; in all his years of pirating, he's never seen anything quite so strange. Despite his best efforts, a twinge of doubt creeps into his voice. "Very well then. Cut the channel." "Aye cap'n" "Cap'n! Rail cannon is at 68% and climbing!" "Cut power from the hyperspace inhibitor and increase charge on the rail cannon. They won't be able to jump out in time." The sensors officer suddenly blurts, "I'm detecting a huge power buildup in the bow section of the ship!" "I would expect so. You don't expect a lone ship to be completely unarmed, do you?" "No sir, I mean really huge!" "Ion cannon?" "Well yeah, but bigger!" "Damn...keep charging that rail cannon! We'll punch a hole through it before it can punch a hole through us."

The dreamsower steers quickly and starts to move away from the frigate, but keeping the side of it's hull faced to it. The ion cannon is at 40% and readying. The two corvettes fly around it in a fast spiral..
JO remains silent as the behemoth steers away smoothly...

Meanwhile Tom and the boss have finished negotiating about the price. With Tom now being quite a large sum of credits lighter, he's wondering how on Earth he can possibly buy some weapons, which usually are very expensive. The 'boss' however has a small store of weapons as well... And for a far more reasonable price... After some more negotiating, Tom has bought 2 Djazna Shredders which are medium-powered forward kinetec guns, and 4 Ilra Flashers, which are accurate lasers with a high refire rate, though their power is less than that of the Shredders. After the deal, Tom leaves in his small Hoverin (cars have been replaced! ) and goes to his appartment, to collect some stuff... When he comes back, he has brought his clothes and a few small trinkets. Surprisingly little compared to most pilots... As he orders his ship to be loaded with some supplies, the 'boss' comes to him. Boss: "Now, before you go off crashing inside my hangar... What's your experience with flying?" "I was best in the flying classes I took and I spent several days in the school's simulator without crashing once." Boss: "You'd better not crash inside here, then! But eh..." The voice of the 'boss' drops a little "What about a small little device I obtained? It's cheap, but only for you!" "Very interesting. What is it?" Boss: "It's a device called EVA. A little prototype I managed to-" "An EVA? Hardly anybody has that! It can be bought, but the price they ask for them!" Boss: "Yeah, I know. Anyhow... I managed to get my hands on one. However, it isn't fully updated. It only has the maps of nearby space. You should be able to update it though. Probably for a price. Anyhow, not all things it can usually do are unlocked yet. However, it can help you while flying, and has a small radar with a reach of a mile or 2." "It doesn't have anything yet? What does it miss?" Boss: "Loads of stuff. But you can ask it basic questions, and it can be handy..." "Price?" Boss: "Well... What about..." Once again, they start negotiating. After 5 minutes however, Tom receives the EVA. A small device which can be attached to a special pad inside the ship. After ensuring all he needs is inside the ship, he enters it, and prepares for launch...

Sorry I haven't joined in properly on the roleplay yet.. I'm a bit preoccupied these couple of days, girlfriend is visiting and homework has got to be jammed into whatever cracks there is in the schedule.. And I'm going to visit my two small sisters I haven't talked to for several years tomorrow (technically today). I promise to read up on your whopping posts, and will join in later. Will probably coordinate it with Kaiser's entry, if I get the chance
Either way, looking good ^^ And solar... Tom Riddle? Please

Jon steps inside his cabin after walking for almost an hour to locate it. He drops his bag and takes a tour around it. He inspects where it is best to place his weapon. He knocks on the walls and notices a black line on his bedroom wall. It isn't large, or very noticable either. He inspects it and touches it. The line glows in a blue color. A hidden shelf slides out of the wall, big enough to fit his weapon inside. He walks out of his bedroom, towards his bag and picks up his gun, a Char 1386 mm Sniper Rifle, and puts it into the hidden shelf.
Jon admires his hidden shelf, but he can't be to sure that it is actually a hidden shelf. He stops worrying about the shelf and begins unpacking everything else there is to unpack. He unpacks until he hears the constant buzzing sound from the cieling. Suddenly a little microphone like object is lowered down from the it, and the buzzing becomes louder until you could hear a background voice say "It's on". "This is the captain speaking. We want all new personell to show up in the meeting hall at 14:00, 13th deck. This is an order, and a failure to deliver it will result in first grade punishment."

"Rail cannon at 100%! On your order, cap'n." "Fire!" *The humming abruptly stops, before a red hot metal projectile screams out of the nose of the Damocles, sending a reverberating thump through its hull. The Dreamsower floats serenely through space, until the cannon round slams into its broadside. The powerful shield ripples violently, barely holding under the impact. After a few seconds however, the ripples fade out, revealing the unscratched hull beneath.* "Energy shields, sir!" "I can see that, dammit! Charge the cannon again! Activate the turrets and open fire! Give it everything we've got!"

The impact didn't go unnoticed inside the ship, although outside it was intact, many plasma circuits were damaged inside the sturdy amour. Enraged, JO precipitated in his move with the ship and fired the ion cannon in the air, without any targets.
The towering orange column waved above the ship, and slowly maneuvered towards the frigate until it hit the engines. Yet the damage to them was limited since the plasma conduction was damaged, and the ion cannon could only scorch the engines, clogging them with metal. The Damocles was saved from the Dream Sower's wrath, although it was now downright stranded.
JO called back the corvettes and turned off all weapons. The ship suddenly gained an additional thrust and started moving almost as fast as a frigate.
Minutes later the shining hyperspace window could be seen kilometers away from the Damocles
(Note: I only damaged impulse systems, you can still do short-jumps, far-jumps and maneuverer trough the thrusters.)

"Captain Thorton, maintenance officer Jerel says we'll need to pick up a few fuses before he can get laser cannon two working again"
Wonderful, just wonderful. It seems the high command command doesn't even think that I'm even worth a few fuses now. When I was in command of the Clenched Fist do you remember how we didn't even bother with lasers? No, we had enough firepower to reduce half the planets in this sector to smoldering craters. Now we don't even have enough weaponry to intimidate space dust. On the contrary, it seems we have to avoid dust at all costs... if we want a hull that is.
"Yes sir, but the Clenched Fist was a super-capital ship and a key part of the Republic's fleet. The top-brass don't care so much for the Marco Polo. We are only a trade freighter on a backward trade route no one cares about."
Yes, we carry highly unstable compounds that could explode if we look at them the wrong way, or breathe too close to them. You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd think our leader's wanted me dead.
*The captain chuckles miserably in his uncomfortable command chair. He's on the bridge... well a kind of bridge. There's only a helm and tactical, which the ship's commander is forced to operate due to crew shortages. Captain Thorton is bitter for a reason, until a few years ago he was an important Commodore in the Ilra Republic's fleet. Then both a personal scandal and a military blunder against a large pirate faction led to him being considered a liability by his commanding Admiral. He was demoted and removed from his command, given this position on a half-functional trade frigate. Where once he had hundreds of crew, he now has only twenty, many poorly skilled. His commander is an old friend though, who followed the Captain from his old vessel.*
*The Captain breathes deeply and lift himself from his chair. The bridge is narrow and cramped, as most of the ship has been converted into cargo space to maximize it's carrying capacity. As a result, comfort on this vessel is rare. Quarters are no wider than a a small bed. The vessels armaments are poor, 9 anti-fighter cannons and 4 frontal lasers. 2 of the anti-fighter guns don't have any ammo and one of the lasers cannons is in need of repair. The freighters only real defence is that it's engines are better than most, having been salvaged from a destroyed vessel. They give the ship some much needed speed and maneuverability.*
I take it the local law enforcement will be blackmailing us again? You know, it's a good thing I don't have children to support anymore. My salary seems to have been in the negative lately.

Sirens blare on the bridge of the Damocles as the ion beam rents through the engine. The sensors officer reports to his capitain, "Sir, the engine is fried. We've got maneuver thrusters and jump access but long flights are impossible. It also blew the hyperspace inhibitor out, sir." "Then we'll jump after them. Laslow! Get their destination solution!" says Manwell to the comms officer. "I want to know where they're going NOW!" "On it sir!" Laslow says, fingers tapping frantically over the glassy panels in front of him. "Stop firing the turrets! Cancel the charge on the rail cannon and divert power to the hyperdr-" "Sir," interrupts Laslow. "They've got an on-board AI and it's fighting back. I can't get their destination solution!" "Look on the trade lane records, find out where they're going by that!" "Aye cap'n."

Although the Dream Sower was unharmed in the outside, inside it suffered. Many superconducting plasma coils were damaged by energy overloads in the port (where the rail gun hit), yet internal self-repair droids were working to replace it. The Synthesizer* was at full work making new key-components.
JO relaxed as the ship entered safe hyperspace once more, but that was until the protoplasm, who he had nicknamed "Lurker", warned him psionically that the enemy was trying to get their jump solution. The AI/protoplasm also stated it was repelling their attempts to get their coordinates.
JO grimed mentally (as that he had no mouth), and thelepaticallysaid:
"Well, self/part. Send them erroneous coordinates, no better way to divert them from self."
The AI complied and opened some protocols which would lead the enemy solution gather attempt to find something, but the coordinates would lead them to a system 20 light years from JO's intended destination.
Not having to worry about anything else, JO gave himself the pleasure of disabling the interface. His arm recomposed itself as fast as it melted away, aftermath, he calmly walked out of the interface vat and went to his quarters where he would have some real sleep, unplugged of the neural control. His mind would be fully silent.
*The Synthesizer is one of the special modules of his ship. It contains one atom of every single element, and from it, it replicates matter by using a base compound (noble gases such as helium and etc) by changing their electrical arrangements. Once the required amounts of the different components are produced, the object is assembled atom-by-atom. This may take lots of time, up to weeks depending on the kind of object being produced. Crystals forged in it are 100% perfect and highly valuable, but assembling their structure takes time. Exclusive tech to JO's race (so far)
[glow=red,2,300]ATTENTION[/glow]
I was pondering, would it be worth moving this to the mother forums (bnw2), I'd watch out for n00bs and place a cap to our maximum number of RPers.... Anyone think it might be a good idea?

*Thorton rinses his face with cold water in a wash basin (an essential scene on any spaceship). There is only one washroom on the entire ship, as to conserve space. This can range from being a pain to life-threatening, if there is an outbreak of illness. This means that the ship’s physician, when he is not drunk or unconscious, is revered as something of a god*
*Thorton quickly leaves the washroom, realising that spending too long in here is one of those things liable to provoke a mutiny. He hurries towards engineering. There he finds a yokel, a deck chair, some wrenches scattered across the place, and an engine that may or may not do what it is supposed to. The room is tiny, it simply houses the hyperspace module and a narrow slit for people to watch over it. Loose wires are so common on the ship that they are often passed off as a design feature by repair crews*
Jerel, how are things?
“Ah I’ll been sayin boss, we’ll be needin’ sum more fuel, she’s running dry.”
Really? We can’t afford that now… This gauge says we’re fine. Did you even bother checking?
“I’ll thought about it boss but I’d went with ma gut instead”
Oh, carry on with reading your engineering manu… holiday brochure.
“will do boss”
*With renewed haste, the captain moves through the narrow corridor of the ships. He is forced to tread up a steep spiral stair case at the end. The designers considered lifts an unnecessary luxury and decided to cut costs by removing them. At the top, the Captain moves sideways through another corridor unable to accommodate his shoulders and eventually enters the bridge through a side door, heavily panting.*
“Sir, we’re about to leave safe space and make the jump”
Yes commander, but the jump between the last port in Confederation space and our destination in the Republic is a short one. And any Pirates that attack me will be in for a great surprise.
“The fact a once highly renowned officer who hunted them down is now commanding a piece of scrap?”
*The commander smiles*
Yes, exactly. While they laugh, we’ll sneak away.

"Sir, their ship AI has just sent me their jump solution. Should I plot a course?" says Laslow. I've just decided that Laslow is also the navigation officer as well as the sensors officer "I told you to check the shipping records. Did you manage to break through?" replies Manwell. "Nossir. I was checking the records, but then I recieved a burst transmission." "That's a little suspicious, don't you think?" "Yessir, but I've also compared the solution to the shipping records. It's about 20 lightyears out, sir." "Very suspicious, in fact." "Yessir. Shall I set a course to their predicted destination?" "Affirmative." *As the Dreamsower glides effortlessly into hyperspace, the Damocles opens another window nearby and limps through it using its maneuver thrusters.* "When we exit hyperspace, have the rail gun charge as fast as possible. I don't care if it emerges in front of a Republic battlecruiser, that thing is paying for our engine repairs!" The Damocles may or may not emerge even remotely close to the Dreamsower, but we're gonna try anyway

JO was walking to his quarters when the AI called him warning: "Attempt to elude chasers unsuccessful. They are converging in our jump coordinates" JO took a deep breath and rotated 180 degrees in the narrow corridors of his ship and found an auxiliary control console. He typed in some commands and the Dreamsower dropped out of hyperspace. Afterwards it activated it's hyperspace inhibitors (Hey, I'm armed ) and started re-activating the ion cannon in half power (rest is directed to the engines). Then he proceeded to the bridge where he'd have to command the ship manually.
